Anna Institute of Management offers training to officers of the Government of Tamil Nadu, Public Sector Undertakings, Government of India and other State Governments in the areas of General Administration, Disaster Management, Information Technology, e - Governance, Behavioural Science, Right to Information Act, Quality Management, Project Management, Personality Development, etc.
Apart from the regular training programmes being conducted at Anna Institute of Management, some of the noteworthy programmes conducted during 2010-11 are as follows:
- Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India sanctioned the Centrally Sponsored Scheme on “Access to Information” to Anna Institute of Management during October, 2009. Under this project, Anna Institute of Management has trained 3145 officials against 2550 officials planned. Also training was imparted to 6182 members of the Women Self Help Groups. An amount of `. 15 lakhs was received from Government of India and it was fully utilised.
- Anna Institute of Management has completed a project at Villupuram District on training component of Capacity Building sponsored by Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India. Under this project, 75 Trainers were developed and training has been imparted to 1016 district officials. The total project cost is `. 40 lakhs.
- Anna Institute of Management is implementing a project at Tiruvannamalai District with sponsorship from the Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India, on Capacity Building for Poverty Reduction through training intervention. It is planned to develop 120 trainers to train 2000 district officials. So far, 50 trainers have been trained. Further, Training of Trainers and Intensive Training of district officials is planned from June, 2011 onwards. It is proposed to complete the project during the current year itself at a project cost of `. 50 lakhs.
- The programmes on Development and Environment Issues, Direct Trainer Skills for Reserve Bank Staff College, Public Private Partnership for Senior IAS Officers, Programme for Public Prosecutors, Right to Information Act for Power Grid Corporation of India and a series of programmes for Public (Election) Department are milestone programmes conducted during the year 2010-11.

For the year 2011-12, it is planned to conduct special programmes for IAMWARM project, Public Private Partnership for IAS officers, Good Governance for IFS officers, Master Trainer Development programme on Direct Trainer Skills and Programme for Private Secretaries / Personal Assistants.
DISASTER MANAGEMENT CELL
Anna Institute of Management has a Disaster Management Cell
established in the year 1995, which is designated as a Nodal Agency
for imparting Disaster Management Training to officers of various
departments of Government of Tamil Nadu. The Ministry of Home Affairs,
Government of India provides support for the Disaster Management Cell.
The Cell is also conducting Training Programmes, sectorwise, on
various aspects of disasters as recommended by a high-powered
committee, constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The Disaster
Management Cell has so far conducted 261 Disaster Management Training
Programmes benefiting nearly 5946 officials, since its inception.
RIGHT TO INFORMATION PROGRAMMES
Rigorous training programme for stake holders including Public Information Officers / Assistant Public Information Officers on the various aspects and provisions of the Act is regularly conducted by Anna Institute of Management. Anna Institute of Management conducts special training on popularizing Right to Information Act 2005 to the officials of the Districts of Cuddalore and Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu. This assignment is sponsored by United Nations Development Programmeme (UNDP), and coordinated by Department of Personnel and Training, Government of India.During the year 2009-10, Government of India sponsored another Project viz. Strengthening Capacity Building and Awareness Generation for effective Implementation of RTI Act 2005. Through this Projet, we have coducted orientation Programmes and awareness programmes in 31 Districts in the State. So far Anna Institute of Management conducted Programmes for 8356 Public Information Officers. Besides we conducted awarenss programmes for 6182 Women Self Help Group Members in 31 Districts.
These programmes range from those which are specially tailored for homogenous groups belonging to one organisation, to
those whose focus was on functional discipline
and those which have been specifically asked for by various
organisations.
Leading technology driven institutes like Madras Refineries Ltd.
Madras Atomic Power Project and Oil & Natural Gas Commission have been utilising the services of Anna Institute of
Management. Central Govt. Depts like Ministry of Civil supplies, and Ministry of Administrative Reforms has engaged our Institute to conduct Seminars, training etc.
APEX TRAINING INSTITUTE
AIM has been upgraded as Administrative Training Institute vide G.O.Ms.No. 187, dated 22.10.1999. With advent of this G.O. foundation training courses for Group A and B officers
have been shifted from Bhavanisagar to Anna Institute of Management, Chennai.
The nomenclature of
the Director, Anna Institute of Management, Chennai has
been changed as Director, Anna Institute
of Management, and the Director General of Training (Ex- officio).
